The Hangover Part II, Water for Elephants

It's been a very busy May for me, which is why I haven't been posting much.  I went to Florida this past week for my brother's engagement party and I'm moving at the end of this month. I really don't want to move, but I don't have a choice. ):

So in the past two weeks, I saw two movies: Water for Elephants and The Hangover Part II. Still have yet to see Thor!! :< Anyway,  let's start with the most recent film I saw.

Last night, I saw The Hangover Part II. Theater was packed. It was funny but it followed the plot of the first film, too too closely.  It's.. exactly the same. Yes there are new funny scenes, but it's not a must see. If you saw The Hangover, you do not necessary need to see Part II because it's basically almost the exact same movie. I'm repeating myself, but what more can I say about a repetitive film? It was disappointing. Video below explains it all.  Go see Bridesmaids instead. (;

Next I saw Water for Elephants with my girlfriends...

Water for Elephants stars Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, and Christoph Waltz. It's based on the novel of the same name  and tells the story of a Polish American who's going to Standford to become a veterinarian. He receives some bad news, drops out, and jumps on a moving train which turns out to be a circus train. There he falls in love with the performer, Marlena even though she is married to ring leader and animal abuser, August.

Overall, the setting is beautiful but the chemistry between Robert and Reese fell flat. Christoph Waltz's performance is captivating and will have you terrified of him. There were some scenes that had me wincing.  It's better to see this film on DVD/Blu Ray or on your television screen. Don't waste your money. In fact, buy the book instead because it's sooooo much better. My own copy is currently being lent to by a friend.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Oh, I haven't seen Hangover part 1 yet. The trailers on TV are making me want to go see part 2 though. If I watch part 2, I'll have seen 2 movies for the price of one! :P
